Berger Chevrolet had long been one of those “with it” dealers that sold high performance Chevrolets. It had also become a source for high performance parts in the Grand Rapids area of Michigan. With the addition of local drag racing star Jim Luikens, Berger stepped up its advertising in national magazines and began writing performance parts orders from all over the country. Along with building some 427 Camaros for customers, Berger sold one 9650 and also ordered 50 9561 COPO Camaros for sale through the dealership.”
